🌿 About Dr. Silvi
Therapy That Equips You for Life, Not Just the Hour
You’ve been managing the best way you know how.
But when the tools you’ve been using stop working, and stress, anxiety, or overwhelm start to interfere with your life, it helps to have the right kind of support.
I'm Dr. Silvi, a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in anxiety, OCD, phobias, and mood challenges across the lifespan. My approach is grounded in cognitive behavioral therapy, neuroscience, and culturally responsive care. I combine research-backed strategies with warmth, practical tools, and a deep respect for each client’s lived experience.
What makes my practice unique is its resource-rich, integrative design. Each client receives personalized digital therapy packets, skills-based guides, and access to a lifelong resource library—tools you can return to again and again, long after therapy ends. I call this School of Life Supplementation. Whether we're building emotional regulation skills, challenging thought loops, or navigating life transitions, therapy with me is designed to help you feel better and stay better.
🧠 What I Believe
Therapy should be practical, personalized, and evidence-based
Tools should outlast the sessions
Healing requires cultural humility and neuroscience-informed care
Clients deserve resources they can actually use
Mental health support should be as smart and strong as the people who seek it
📚 Publications and Community Involvement
In addition to my clinical work, I’m a published author, lecturer, and consultant. I collaborate regularly with the American Psychological Association’s Magination Press to integrate evidence-based strategies into children’s books that support emotional growth, confidence, and mental wellness.
My books and contributions include:
How to Handle Stress for Middle School Success – a science-backed guide to help tweens build resilience, manage anxiety, and stay focused
Isabela’s Birthday Surprise – a bilingual story that celebrates emotional expression and sensory awareness
Sawyer’s Big Idea – a story about creativity, problem-solving, and self-advocacy
Abuela’s Letter – a gentle picture book about intergenerational connection, family, and memory
Disco Dave (forthcoming) – a vibrant story that encourages perseverance, confidence, and flexible thinking through dance and joyful movement
Each book includes a “Note to Readers” that gives caregivers practical tools to carry the message beyond the story. Whether it’s building self-regulation through movement, reinforcing effort over outcomes, or adapting when things feel hard, I provide strategies that caregivers can use to support emotional development in daily life.
Beyond publishing, I consult with schools, nonprofits, and community organizations to support resilience, accessibility, and well-being across diverse populations. My workshops focus on stress management, culturally responsive care, and real-life applications of psychology that empower both children and adults.
🎓 Educational and Clinical Background
My path into psychology began with a foundation in journalism, psychology, and business. I earned my master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from the University of Miami and completed my doctorate in clinical psychology at Nova Southeastern University.
My pre-doctoral training included work at Stanford University's Lucile Packard Children's Hospital and the Community Clinic at Children’s Health Council (CHC) in Palo Alto, California. I then completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Kennedy Krieger Institute’s Behavior Management Clinic, where I focused on evidence-based care for children and families.
I later joined a group private practice in Bethesda, Maryland, where I deepened my expertise in CBT with a focus on treating anxiety and OCD. That experience inspired me to establish my own private practice: Stress-Free CBT.
🌐 A Virtual Practice, Nationwide
I'm based in Washington, DC, and provide therapy virtually across 38 PSYPACT-participating states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. My practice is fully online and designed for flexibility, access, and comfort—so clients can engage in therapy from a space that feels safe and familiar.
I also offer bilingual services in both English and Spanish, and I bring a culturally sensitive lens to every case, honoring the values and identities of the individuals and families I serve.
🎓 Teaching and Supervision
I currently teach at the University of Miami’s Department of Psychology, where I lecture on cultural diversity in mental health care. My work with graduate students focuses on building multicultural competence, clinical accessibility, and inclusive care. I am deeply committed to training the next generation of psychologists to approach therapy with cultural humility, evidence-based rigor, and deep compassion.
